1. Wheel selection – Sparco Assetto Gara 18” x 8J (rim weight: 9.18kg)

The task was to select wheels with not too much weight, and it fell to the Sparco Assetto Gara rims in size 18″ x 8J. It is worth noting that each rim weighs just 9.18 kg, which supports the Golf R’s dynamics.

2. Fitting with precision – distances and the Big Brake Kit

On the front axle, we used a 10mm spacer with centring to accommodate the powerful brake caliper. On the rear axle we also plan to install similar spacers as soon as we replenish our stock (15mm was a tad too much). An interesting feature is the use of a set of long hub pins from RacingLine Performance, which allowed the rims to be screwed on securely despite the spacers.

3. Michelin Pilot Sport 4 tyres – combining performance and design

We chose Michelin Pilot Sport 4 tyres for the kit, as unfortunately the 4S model does not come in the 225/40R18 size. The result is impressive – the Sparco Assetto Gara model perfectly combines looks with sporty aspirations, fitting in perfectly with the Golf R’s character.
